A Message from Pastor Drew Foster

From the very beginning God has invited us to participate in His purposes. Stewardship first fell to Adam and Eve and then to Abraham as God began to carve out a people set apart for Himself. The graces of Jesus Christ enable us to participate in God’s purpose of redeeming humankind. All stewardship is about honoring God and reconciling people to Him through the opportunities available to us. One of those opportunities is financial stewardship (Ex: Building the Tabernacles and the Temple [Exodus 36; 1 Chron. 29] and the fruits of generosity in Acts 4).

I envision God doing amazing works among us as we respond in faith and generosity. Will you seek God for direction on how He’d like you to invest in His plans for GWC?

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Next Level is the name of our Capital Campaign we have embarked on to eliminate the debt on our building and to continue to build God’s Kingdom through the expansion of our physical resources.

  • Contributions can be made through cash, check, credit card and bank account drafts. Contributions may also be made through stock or individual investment accounts.

  • It has been our plea before the Lord to see our community transformed and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We are open in allowing God to “stretch us” in advancing His Kingdom. The Lord promises manifold blessing to and through those who support the advancement of His Kingdom. This is done with generous hearts and audacious faith (2 Cor 9:7; Luke 6:38). Jesus taught in the Parable of the Talents (Matt 25:14-30) that the more faithfully and generously we invest the more it multiplies in fulfilling and accomplishing His will. Therefore, we are committed to follow Him in faith even when we don’t clearly see the end results.

  • The first capital fundraiser is detailed in Exodus 25:1-9. “The Lord said to Moses ‘Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering, you are to receive the offering for me from each man whose heart prompts him to give.’” So God Himself told Moses to take up an offering for the purpose of building the tabernacle. Notice that each person was to pray and give as they were led. In 1 Chronicles 29, King David gives an offering for the building of the Temple. In verse 3, David says “Besides, in my devotion to the Temple of my God I now give my personal treasures of gold and silver for the Temple of my God over and above everything.” David then goes on to encourage everyone to give to the effort. It is clear that scripture implores us as Christians to give an offering over and above the tithe whenever a building project, renovation, or property purchase is to be undertaken.

  • As of Summer 2023 have $1.1 million in debt on our building mortgage. The Federal Reserve increased their base interest rate ten times since June 2022. There are expectations of more increases will incur to get inflation under control. Some financial experts are predicting increased inflation through 2024 or beyond.

  • We will use the funds that we have raised to pay down the principal on our mortgage. The elders and the church leadership will then decide how to move forward with paying down the remainder of the debt.

  • We plan on the campaign lasting for 30 months (2.5 years) with a kick off in June 2023.

  • Yes, pledge cards have been sent to attenders of Grays Woods. They are also available on the Grays Woods informational table in the church building lobby.

  • Everyone! We want everyone who attends Grays Woods Church or calls Grays Woods Church home to participate. We encourage everyone to pray about their individual commitment to the campaign and ask God to reveal how they can participate in the campaign.
